Notifications

Empi tells you when something needs you, and keeps a record of what it told you.

The inbox

The bell in the topbar is your notification inbox. A badge on it shows how many notifications you have not read yet.

Open it and you get the history, newest first. Unread items are visually distinct from ones you have already seen, so you can tell at a glance what is new. Opening a notification marks it read.

Two bulk actions are available:

  • Mark all read clears the badge without touching the history.
  • Clear all permanently removes every notification.

When there is nothing waiting, the inbox reads "You're all caught up".

Warning

Clear all cannot be undone. It removes the notifications themselves, not the tasks or notes they pointed at.

How notifications reach you

In-app, in real time. While Empi is open in a browser tab, a notification arrives as a toast the moment it fires, and lands in the inbox at the same time.

Web Push. Turn on browser notifications in Settings > General and your device is notified even when the Empi tab is closed. Your browser asks for permission the first time. If your browser does not support push notifications, Empi tells you so instead of offering the toggle.

What Empi notifies you about

Today, two things:

  • The evening-routine nudge. At your evening cutover, Empi can tell you it is time to wind down, review the day and plan tomorrow. This one is opt-in: turn on the evening routine reminder in Settings > Tasks.
  • Note reminders. A note can carry a reminder, one-off or recurring. See Note reminders.

Retention

Notifications are not kept forever:

State Kept for
Read 7 days
Unread 30 days

After that they are purged automatically. Nothing you need to act on is stored only in a notification, so an expired notification never loses you work.
